About Us
Our Story
Founded in 2017, we started Troeteldier Plesier for the benefit of pets and their owners after seeing a big need for local pet sitting services. Our goal is to make sure that your pets are well taken care of and happy based on their individual needs, their owners are comforted, and that we are getting our own furry friend fixes. But let’s be honest- it’s their world, we’re just living in it!
I (Righardt Niemand, 21) am a self taught web designer with an online digital marketing company. I’ve always known that I wanted to work with animals when I was younger, I would always give my friend’s doggies more attention than I gave my friends when visiting them. My partner (Cailin Du Preez, 20), is a full time marketing student. Since we both basically “work from home” we have a lot of free time on our hands to take excellent care of your home and your pets while you are away.
Since strating the business a couple of years ago, I have fallen in love with taking care of pets and constantly meeting addorable little personalities. I have developed a unique way of making your pets feel safe and taken care of by giving them the personal care that is equal to your love and attention.. With our care your pet will barely notice you are gone.
All our pet sitters are trained and certified with Pet First Aid and we have experience in taking care of a variety of pets including some exotic animals such as bunnies, monkeys, lizards, snakes and house aquariums.
We cover most of Pretoria East, Centurion, Midrand and Sandton (while focusing mostly on Centurion) and handle every type of personality imaginable. From the playful ones who make the dog park world go ‘round, to the formerly abused ones who need just a little extra TLC, to the brand new baby ones whose development we’re so proud to be a part of, to the challenging and temperamental ones who always keep us on our toes, we never go a day without learning something about ourselves or them.
At Troeteldier Plesier, we lead lives full of the unconditional love and happiness we receive from the furballs we get to spend time with and we have all the beautiful people in it to thank. We love you and your pups!!

As a pet care service, we at think it is important that our team takes the time and energy to give back to those who work diligently behind the scenes to find happy homes for the beautiful animals that are less fortunate than the ones that we get to care for every day.
We devote our free time to work with a wonderful group of people at Woodrock Animal Rescue. Located in just outside of Harties, they are a very special type of rescue that deals with a lot of severe cases of “last chances”, abuse and neglect. Their dedication and determination to save these dogs as their absolute last chance is a reminder of the important things in life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is watching my pet?
After you request a service, we will choose someone in our team that we believe will be a good fit for you and your pet/s. You will have the opportunity to meet with the chosen sitter either virtually or in person to decide if they are the right pet sitter for you.
How do I pay for the service?
We prefer EFT payments.
The banking details will be on the bottom of the quote we send you.
When will I be charged for service?
We require a payment to be made to secure your booking due to people booking dates and then cancelling at the last minute.
Which areas do you service?
We are based in Centurion but we also work in Pretoria East and Sandton
We work in Estates as well and have Pet Sitters in Midstream, Midlands, Amberfield, Zwartkop, Irene, Silverlakes and many more.
Is there a cancelation fee?
Yes. We take a 20% cancellation fee if a client cancels withing 24 hours of their booking.
The reason for this is that if you book a sitter and we can’t help other clients during those dates because they are “booked” we lose out on that money.
What does it cost?
Our pricing is R150 per day visit and R300 for an overnight stay.
We often give discounts if a client books a pet sitter for an extended period.
Are the pet sitters qualified?
All of our dog sitters, cat sitters, and other pet sitters go through a standard background so that we can ensure they are fit for the job. In addition, we conduct a personality focused interview where we evaluate if a candidate truly has a passion for pets and people. We don’t hire anyone who doesn’t love caring for animals as much as we do.
What happens if my trip gets extended?
We understand that life isn’t always predictable. Flights get delayed, trains get missed, drives take longer than we initially planned. If you are unable to get back home in time to give your pet the care it needs, just let us know. We’ll make sure your pet is safe, happy, and healthy whenever you’re able to make it back.
What is a meet & greet?
A meet and greet is where you get to meet a Troeteldier Plesier team member. And more importantly, we meet your pet!
