Terms & Conditions

Can I accept money directly from pet owners?

No. All payments must be made through the Troeteldier Plesier platform. By using the Troeteldier Plesier platform, you commit to making your initial and future reservations.

When am I paid as a pet service provider?

While owners are charged at the time of booking, Troeteldier Plesier holds onto those funds until the service is complete. You’ll receive your payment two days after you’ve completed a service. We do it this way because we do our payments after we receive feedback from our clients. You can choose if you want us to do an EFT or pay you via cash.

Keep communications open at all times

Make sure to keep communication open at all times. It is very important that our clients can contact you via WhatsApp or a phone call whenever they need to get a hold of you. Also make sure to send them regular updates and pictures while you are taking care of their pets.

Please note that you are under no circumstances allowed to book pet sitting jobs privately with our clients and with applying as a pet sitter for Troeteldier Plesier you are required to inform us of any bookings discussed with the clients and in failing to do so we hold the rights to terminate their access from our platform and withhold any payments as well as the sign-up fee.

What if the client is not satisfied with the service?

Pet parents have the option to open a dispute within 2 days after the job is complete. Troeteldier Plesier will investigate the dispute and if we decide in the pet parent’s favour, we will refund a portion or the entire booking fee at our discretion.

Missing Pets

You agree that Troeteldier Plesier will not be liable for any pets that have gone missing when in the care or possession of the pet sitter. In the event the pet cannot be recovered. It is the pet sitter’s responsibility to discuss with parents for their losses and for any compensation.

Troeteldier Plesier will only assist by sponsoring for lost pet advertising up to a value equivalent to R200 for jobs that have been booked and paid via our platform. Any lost or missing pet must be reported to Troeteldier Plesier within 24 hours of the incident.

Should the pet sitter fail to use their reasonable efforts to inform us within 24 hours after the pet missing incident, Troeteldier Plesier may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate their access to our platform and may withhold any outstanding pay-outs to the pet sitter at its discretion pending investigations regarding the lost pet or until the pet is found. If the pet cannot be found, all payment for the related job will be refunded to the client.

What to do when a pet passes away

This does not happen often, however it does happen on old age pets or sick pets before Pet Sitters take over or if a cat or small pet was cared with pet sitters with large dogs. In the event the pet owner feels that the passing of the pets is due to other reason, we recommend the pet owner to go through our standard dispute handling procedure. It will be the responsibility of the pet sitter and pet parents to investigate and to send the pet for an autopsy to analyse if the death is a result of a previous sickness, or a sickness or accident during the care of the pet sitter.

The Pet Parent will be responsible for the fees incurred if the reason is due to previous sickness or old age while the Pet sitter will be responsible for the fees incurred if the death is due to an accident or negligence (such as feeding the pet something that is not allowed).

As such, it is important for you to take the pet to a vet if you suspect there is an issue before it is too late. The costs will be covered by the clients.

Damaged property

If the pet sitter is staying over at a client’s house and damages or breaks property it is their responsibility to inform both Troeteldier Plesier and the client immediately. The client will then discuss with us how we can solve the problem. If it was caused due to negligence the pet sitter will be held liable.
